Historic NBA Milestone: LeBron and Bronny James Become First Father-Son Duo to Play Together in the League

LeBron and Bronny James became the first father-son duo to play together in the North American Basketball League (NBA) on Tuesday, during the Los Angeles Lakers‘ triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves (110-103).

On the opening night of the new NBA season, LeBron James, starting his 22nd season, and Bronny James, this year’s draft pick, spent about two and a half minutes together on the court.

LeBron James, just over two months away from turning 40, finished the match with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Bronny, 20, was blank, missing both field goal attempts.

“That moment, with us together next to the officers’ table and entering together, is a moment that I will never forget. No matter how old I am, no matter that my memory may fade as I get older, I will never forget that moment,” he said. ‘King’ James.

One of the best players in NBA history, four-time champion LeBron, left some advice for his son, in an exchange captured by television cameras, before the two took the court together.

“Are you ready? You saw the intensity, right? Play without worries. Don’t worry about mistakes, go and play with everything,” he said.

In the stands were Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., who were the first father and son to play in the North American Baseball League (MLS), playing 51 games together for the Seattle Mariners in 1990 and 1991.
