The second overall pick in the 2021 draft is entering the final season of his rookie pact.
The new agreement will begin during the 2025-26 season. Green will have the option to become a free agent before the final year of the contract.
The person spoke to The Associated Press anonymously because the deal is not yet official. ESPN first reported the news.
Green didn’t miss a game last season, finishing second on the team in scoring with 19.6 points per game, on average.
He helped the Rockets go 41-41, 19 more wins than the previous campaign.
Houston opens the season Wednesday at home against the Charlotte Hornets.
