No goals conceded and no losses throughout the season.

Despite that, Ängelholm’s ladies only came second in the table – and missed out on the series victory.

– It is very strange, but we have made an incredible performance, says coach Ulf Johansson.

Ängelholms FF’s season will go down in the history books.

When the 18th and last game was finished in division 4 north-west Skåne, the team had a goal difference of 78-0.

Despite that, they were defeated in the table by Ljungbyheds IF by one point.

– It has been a sick season in that we did not win the series, says Ulf Johansson to Sportbladet.

“Now Ängelholm’s zero will crack”

Now the season has received a lot of attention on social media, where posts have spread all over the world.

– I don’t really know what has happened, but I understood last night when the girls started sending lots of videos and Instagram accounts that had posted about us, says Johansson.

But it has been a long journey, says the coach.

– I am so proud of this season and that we did not concede a single goal in the entire series. There are many who have tried to crack that zero, says Johansson and continues:

– In the last five rounds, I can probably say that all teams focused only on scoring goals. The others had five strikers and stood and hit long balls for Ängelholm’s clean sheet to break. But somehow we still managed.

Let the goalkeeper shoot the penalty

But despite the pressure during the last matches, Ängelholm chose to think offensively.

In the penultimate round against Perstorp Bälinge, the team received a penalty.

Then they sent up goalkeeper Nellie Bengtsson, 17.

– We had a match before when there was a penalty and we led by five, six balls. Then I told Nelly to take it and then she didn’t dare so then I got angry, says Johansson and continues:

– After the match I told her that in the next match you will take it and then she did. I’m a bit of a weird coach so I felt that the focus is not always to keep a clean sheet but to develop the team.

Bengtsson scored the penalty and thus ended the season with one goal ahead and zero goals behind.

– I was very happy and excited when the referee blew a penalty so it was fun, says Bengtsson himself.

“Been boring”

The goalkeeper who during the season had a bit of a problem to occupy himself in the goal.

– It has been boring in some matches, absolutely. Some matches have been a long shot and other matches have been a little more, of course, says Bengtsson.

With second place, Ängelholm is forced to qualify to reach division 3.

There, the team advanced from the first round, but actually conceded two goals.

The team will play a decisive match on October 27 to move up to Division 3.
