How Ramón’s ‘Gringa Pan’ Backfired at Vasco: An In-Depth Analysis

His son and assistant, Emiliano Díaz, created bonds of friendship even off the pitch with Vasco‘s foreigners. It was common to see him at private parties with Vegetti, Medel, Galdames, among others. Brazilian midfielder Zé Gabriel, now on loan at Coritiba, also became his personal friend.

Emiliano still remains close to Vegetti to this day. During their last extended break at Vasco, for example, the two took a boat ride with their families, which also included the company of Argentines Rossi and Alcaraz, from Flamengo. (photo above).

Troubled exit ends in court

Ramón Díaz‘s departure from Vasco was quite turbulent. After the defeat suffered by Criciúma, in São Januário, the then board of directors — still led by 777 Partners — interpreted that the coach had communicated his decision to leave command of the team. The club then announced the professional’s dismissal on social media, but then, during the press conference, the coach denied that he had resigned.

Cruzmaltino, in turn, maintained the initial interpretation and the case ended up in court. The coach charges the termination fine because he understands that he was fired. Vasco understands that it was the coach who resigned and gathers witnesses who were in the locker room to corroborate the thesis.
