How Singaporean Investment Could Shift Ownership of Boavista from Gérard Lopez

There are changes on the horizon for Boavista, whose SAD could change hands due to strong interest from a Singaporean investment fund.

The information was reported by the newspaper Abola and meanwhile confirmed by zerozerowho knows that there were negotiations between Gérard Lopez and the Asian group to purchase all of the Luxembourger’s shares – around two thirds (67.67 percent) of Boavista’s SAD.

There is still no agreement, but conversations have progressed with the help and intermediation of Alan Borges, the businessman who took this Singaporean fund to the negotiating table. The expectation is that the two parties will reach an agreement.

Boavista’s financial situation is beyond fragile, so a change of this type could be key to a new direction. It is worth remembering that the problems of the SAD currently led by Fary led the club to continue being unable to sign up new players, being forced to invest in young players.

The sporting result of this scenario, so far, is just one victory in nine official games, including elimination from the Portuguese Cup at the hands of Varzim (1-0).
