Luka Ivanušec continues to stir emotions at Feyenoord. The Rotterdam team has been negotiating with Dinamo Zagreb for weeks to free the winger for a sum of millions. Ivanušec was presented as one of the biggest signings of recent years, but after an excellent start he was barely able to show his qualities at De Kuip. His market value has now plummeted and the Croat only played 127 minutes in the Feyenoord shirt this season.
“The last time he came on, he also did very poorly,” says Michel van Egmond in the Dick Voormekaar Podcast. The 26-year-old Ivanušec last came on for eight minutes during the away match against Girona FC. “He wanted to shoot a ball away, kicked over the ball and it almost ended up in Feyenoord’s net,” adds Feyenoord watcher Martijn Krabbendam. “He is a player who is not overflowing with confidence at the moment. They paid eight million for him. Last year he played for the first time at Utrecht, where he made a brilliant pass and everyone thought: that is a good player. ”
Ivanušec has hardly shown anything at Feyenoord after his ankle injury. “He is a Croatian international, so he should be able to do something, right? He may not suit the football that Feyenoord wants to play. Arne Slot didn’t field him either. With him it might also be the intensity and energy. that he brings, which is very important nowadays. That was mainly the problem why Slot didn’t field him. Supporters hope that Ivanušec gets the chance of ten, but Krabbendam expects that the Croat will not be able to afford this at all. “He can’t play at ten at all, because then you have to cover meters. It has been a bad buy so far and an expensive one too. I hope for him that he somehow finds his way up, but I don’t see that happen so quickly. Where should you put him? Right winger or left winger? You have to find a solution, because he is an expensive boy. Technically it is not a problem, because he can play football very well in a small space.”
