The center of the Scarlets and the XV du Poireau, four-time winner of the Six Nations Tournament, had worn the colors of Clermont for two seasons.
Welsh center three-quarter Jonathan Davies (96 caps) announced, in an Instagram post, that he is retiring from sport at the age of 36. Emblematic player of the Llanelli Scarlets and the Leek XV, he also participated in two British and Irish Lions tours in 2013 in Australia and New Zealand in 2017. Among the All Blacks, he was voted best Lion of the tour . With his national team, he won the Six Nations Tournament four times in 2012 (Grand Slam), 2013, 2019 and 2021.
“Having taken a break following the end of my final season with the Scarlets, I have made the decision to end my professional rugby career, he writes. Nicknamed “Foxy”, Jonathan Davies played for two seasons at ASM Clermont Auvergne between 2014 and 2016, playing in the Champions Cup and Top 14 finals in 2015, before returning home and winning the Pro 12 title. with the Scarlets in 2017. “I now look forward to what the next 18 years will bring for me, as a father, as a husband and in my next professional chapter”he concludes.
