Impending Verdict: What to Expect from Ibrahimovic’s Acquisition in Two Weeks

On Wednesday, the trial started regarding Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s second property purchase in Östermalm. After two and a half days of main proceedings, a verdict is expected within two weeks.

The conflict concerns a resident of the property and the parties have not been able to reach a settlement after long discussions.

In autumn 2015, Fastighetsvärlden was able to reveal that Zlatan Ibrahimovic bought a property in Östermalm for SEK 110 million. In March 2023, Ibrahimovic acquired another property, a neighboring property to the previous one. The price was SEK 130 million and it was Tino Goetze who was the seller – with a value increase of 55 percent in a few years during Goetze’s ownership.

It is the second acquired property that is now the subject of the Stockholm district court, or more specifically a tenant in one of the apartments there.

The rental dispute, which FV and several other media reported on earlier, has been going on for over a year. After Ibrahimovic took over the house, he ended up in conflict with a tenant – who rented his accommodation through a brokerage company – after the resident was dismissed last year.

After Ibrahimovic took possession of the property, he ended up in conflict with a tenant who rented the accommodation through a brokerage company – after the resident in 2023 was dismissed. The reason for the decision was that the property would be renovated for new homes. There have also been reports later that the property will become an office.

– The purpose of the acquisition was never to become a professional landlord, but to use the property for personal needs, said real estate lawyer Sara Björkeholm, who represents Ibrahimovic and Seger.

However, the tenant did not move out, but sued the property owner and demanded to stay with the same rights as a primary tenant. The tenant has been offered proposals for at least two replacement apartments by Ibrahimovic’s agent, but rejected both.

The dispute is based on a judgment from the Supreme Court in 2022, which strengthened the tenant’s rights in the event of alleged squatting. Ibrahimovic’s representative denies the plot and says that the tenant did not have the apartment as a permanent residence, writes TT.

During the first day of the trial, it was so full in the audience that about ten people could not get a seat. During Thursday and Friday it was calmer.

The judgment in the dispute case can be expected to be announced in two weeks, perhaps already in a week.
