“All the monde predicted a 0-8. It’s frustrating, we were very close to the feat,” will say Florian Gaillard, president of US Argenton, at the end of the fierce fight which pitted his pennant team against that of Blois, this Saturday October 26, as part of the 3e day of the N3 team championship.

After losing during the first two days, the Argenton squad could indeed fear paying a hefty bill against the leader of the group who has such resources that they even allow him to recruit abroad. On the Argentinian side, we stay with another philosophy, we prefer to focus on training and keep a family state of mind. “Blois is a bit like the PSG of the hen”summed up Xavier-Guillaume Valledor, leader of the Argentinian team.
So it was a bit of David against Goliath. But the beauty of sport is that there is always an element of uncertainty. And as no one is held to the impossible, and to everyone’s amazement, the locals supported the comparison at the end of the first four games concluded with a score of parity (2-2).
Everything was still possible when Valledor snatched the equalizing point at 3-3. Then 4-3 for Blois before the last meeting. It was Lauriane Girardeau who had the difficult task of securing a draw synonymous with an immense performance against Lina Phongsavath.
Girardeau and Argenton poorly rewarded
The game was close and fierce, keeping the large audience in suspense. The Argentonnaise won the first round but lost in the second. The two rivals went blow for blow in the deciding set and the Blésoise ended up winning at the end of the suspense (20-22).
Final score, 3-5. Frustrating for Lauriane Girardeau, very impacted by this defeat. “She gave everything and it all came down to money time. She can be proud of herself and so are we: no one has yet managed to take three points against them. There is a lot of disappointment but we tell ourselves that by continuing like this, it will eventually pay off”Valledor concluded.
The sooner the better. The next meeting in Buxerolles (November 16), another “fanny” team for the moment, promises to be crucial for the maintenance of Argenton.
