The Fous du vol Ignaciens badminton tournament took place on Sunday October 20, 2024 at the Joseph-Urien complex, in Plouigneau. Twenty-eight mixed teams competed in the morning on the seven dedicated fields. Outside, the terrible weather and very high humidity around midday made the floor of the complex slippery. Patrick Le Vot, president, and his office then made the decision to relocate the tournament to Plougonven, after obtaining municipal authorizations to use the room and open a temporary refreshment bar.
“It’s really nice to be able to meet each other”
The games were able to continue despite two fewer courts. In the afternoon, the other two sets of matches took place with a bit of a wait between matches but, in the end, everyone left happy. “This is the second tournament we have organized. There are very good players in leisure tournaments and it’s great to be able to meet each other, always in a good atmosphere,” rejoices Orianne, who has been at the Fous du Volant club for eight years.
The winners of the mixed doubles are Tankred and Louane from Guipavas-Landerneau, the ladies’ doubles were won by Sophie and Louane from Guipavas-Landerneau and the men’s doubles by Thomas and Simon-Pierre from Pleyber-Christ. Patrick Le Vot highlighted the responsiveness of the City of Plougonven in providing access to the municipal hall and the work of Philippe from “3 sets” from Brest, present on site from the morning, who worked all day recording the damaged rackets.
