American journalist Boehm: comparing Miranchuk with Messi is unfair
American journalist Pro Soccer USA Charles Boehm refused to compare Atlanta‘s Russian midfielder Alexei Miranchuk and Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“I don’t think it’s fair to compare Miranchuk to Messi, especially considering how much weaker Atlanta is compared to Miami at the moment,” Boehm said. He suggested that perhaps next year the Russian will have a more coherent team that will help him prove himself as one of the elite players in the league.
29-year-old Miranchuk moved to Atlanta in July 2024. The agreement runs until the end of 2027 with an option to extend for another year. He played nine matches with the team, scoring three goals and one assist.
Messi joined Inter Miami in the summer of 2023. His contract with the club runs until the end of the 2024/2025 season. On October 3, Messi, as part of Inter, won the regular season of the North American Major League Soccer (MLS).
