Inclusive basketball in Tías, debut

The members of the two Magec Tías Inclusivo inclusive basketball teams have received the new equipment for the 2024-2025 season. The material will be officially premiered in matches to be played next Saturday in La Palma.

The purchase has been possible thanks to a municipal subsidy. The Sports Councilor, Ismael Cruz, was present at the delivery ceremony, who wished both teams good luck. The season will extend until March.

The members of the two Magec Tías Inclusivo teams will travel to La Palma along with the coach, Jesús García, and the assistants, Raico Cejas, Omar Abad and Domenica Parrilla. The initiative has been active for three seasons and has participated in the BSL league for two seasons.

This league, created by the Canarian Basketball and Banana Federation of the Canary Islands, was born with the purpose of promote the practice of inclusive basketball in the archipelago and give visibility to the needs of athletes with intellectual disabilities and illnesses related to mental health.

This is the first federated league of its category in Spain, created after the growing reception of the different Basketball Without Limits matches that the FCB had been organizing since 2021 and in which Plátano de Canarias had also been collaborating.
