Havana, Oct 15.- The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder in Spanish) announced the rescheduling of the III Cuban Elite Baseball League (LEBC in Spanish) and the 64th National Series of that sport.
Below, we publish the full text of the communication sent to the media.
Inder information
The National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder) reports that the III Elite League of Cuban Baseball will be played between March and June 2025.
The decision is the result of analyzes carried out jointly with the National Baseball Commission (CNB) and the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS), which took into account the following elements:
- The non-presence of Cuba in the Caribbean Series makes it unnecessary to continue sticking to the changes made two years ago in our calendars to adjust to the date of that tournament (beginning of February).
- Based on such a reality, playing the III Elite League of Cuban Baseball between March and June will also allow the national series to begin in September, which will mean that our two fundamental events will be free of the months of highest temperatures, with the consequent benefit for its protagonists.
- This will lead us to resume the order approved as part of the strategy for the development of our sport, altered – we insist – in the midst of the aspiration to regularize the presence of Cuba in the Caribbean Series, a step not carried out by its organizers.
Such adjustments will also allow the national series to be less affected by the hiring of players in foreign leagues and for the elite leagues to become preambles to our participation in multidisciplinary events, mostly scheduled for July and August.
We confirm that the III Elite League of Cuban Baseball will be starred by the six teams that led the 63rd National Baseball Series: Las Tunas, Pinar del Río, Granma, Industriales, Santiago de Cuba and Ciego de Ávila. (Text and Photo: JIT)
