A unusual invasion of River Plate fans in DivinópolisCentral-West region of Minas Gerais, resulted in confusion this Monday (21), the day before the duel with Atlético, at Arena MRV, in Belo Horizonte, in the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores.
Throughout the night, River fans clashed with Atletico fans. As a minority, the Argentines got the worst of it. Images circulating on social media show two Millonarios followers being beaten on one of the streets in the center of Divinópolis.
The Military Police were called to respond to the incident and found that an Argentine fan had broken his nose.
A bus with River fans arrived in the morning at the River Palace hotel, in the city in the interior of Minas Gerais. Throughout the day, Argentines had fun on the streets of Divinópolis and frequented bars.
The city is 120km away from the capital of Minas Gerais, the location of this Tuesday’s decisive match, at 9:30 pm, in the Libertadores semi-final.
In total, the Argentines have already traveled 2,640km to the city and will still have to arrive in BH for the start.
It is worth mentioning that Divinópolis is known for its lively nightlife, as it receives many university students and young people from all regions of Minas. According to the most recent data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), released on August 29, Divinópolis has a population of 242,328 inhabitants.

In search of their fifth continental title, the “Millonarios” will visit Atlético on Tuesday (22), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Arena MRV, in BH. The second duel for the semifinal will be on the other Tuesday (29), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Mâs Monumental de Núñez, in Buenos Aires.
