Minas debuted in the Women’s Volleyball Superliga with a victory over Brusque by 3 sets to 0 (25/19, 25/19 and 25/12), this Friday (18/10), at Arena UniBH, in Belo Horizonte. Also competing in the main Brazilian tournament for the first time was Dutch Celeste Plak. And in style: the Minas Gerais tennis player won the best on court award.
During the match, Plak moved the scoreboard on 13 occasions. She led the team in the first stage, closed the second with an ace point and continued at a high level in the final stage.
Voted best on the court, she celebrated the victory, praised the atmosphere at the UniBH Arena, but made a reservation. In Plak’s opinion, she did not play well enough to receive the Viva Vôlei Trophy.
“I didn’t expect that. [o prêmio de melhor em quadra]I don’t think I played well today. But, I’m happy that we won the first game, here at home. The atmosphere is very good. Minas fans had been waiting for this moment for a long time: for the season to start, and for us to be able to win for them here was really good.”
