Jakarta Joland Music Festival 2024 headlines Hyukoh & Sunset Rollercoaster

JAKARTA – Plainsong Live, as a promoter, has prepared for the Jakarta Joyland Music Festival 2024, which will be held for three days from November 22 to 24 at the GBK Baseball Stadium in Central Jakarta.

The promoters also announced the lineup for the third and final stage, which includes domestic and foreign musicians.

The Hyukoh & Sunset Rollercoaster has been announced as the headliner, following names announced earlier by St. Vincent, Aerial, Bomba Cycling Club and others. They are presented as an amalgamation of Korean and Taiwanese indie rock.

“We are extremely grateful that two of Asia’s biggest indie rock bands are currently able to appear at the Joland Music Festival. Their decision to make this collaborative album is an exploratory choice for them and an exciting one for their fans. Exciting choices,” said Ferry Dermawan, Joland Music Festival program director, in a press release to VOI on Tuesday, October 15.

Hyukoh & Sunset Rollercoaster’s joint performance will feature songs from the collaborative album “AAA” released last July, such as “Young Man,” “Glue” and “Antenna.”

In addition, there will be separate composers such as Hyukoh’s “TOMBOY” and “Comes and Goes”, and Sunset Rollercoaster’s “Vanilla” and “My Jinji”.

Other international performers will also be present at this year’s Jakarta Joland Music Festival, such as Khun Narin’s Electric Phin Band from Thailand, which combines psych rock with Thai folk music; Idiotape electronic music trio from South Korea; Cami Layé Okún, a Cuban-born a tropical music DJ who now lives in France; Danniella Dee, a British roots reggae DJ who is also part of the sister trio in Dub; and Habibi Funk, a Middle Eastern music DJ from Germany and the founder of the record label of the same name.

The five names above include artists who will fill the Lilly Skate stage, which this year is curated by White Shoes & The Couples Company (WSATCC), a long-time Joyland Music Festival artistic collaborator who will also be show.

“In curating the Lily Pad Stage, we wanted to share fun and artistic ideas,” said WSATCC.

“We chose friends and community we met before on our journey at White Shoes & The Couples Company, discerning newcomers, and people who cited the music, sincerity, energy and spirit we admire.

The selection of Lily Pad Stage, designed as a band performance stage and bar for DJ sets, will also feature Indonesian talent including Asa Kusumah, Bosobar, The Cottons, Drizzly, Jeslla, Plastic and Prontaxan.

Meanwhile, .Feast, which debuted at the Junland Music Festival, has also added another line-up of domestic performers.
