João Palhinha was missing from Portugal’s 3-1 win over Poland. The Bayern professional was not in coach Roberto Martinez‘s squad. According to information from DAZN “Personal reasons” were responsible for this. “I think the context is important,” explained coach Roberto Martinez in Portuguese Sports TV: “Palhinha was given permission to miss the first training session and it was important to have two more training sessions before being in the squad.”
Rumors about his relationship status have been circulating in Portugal for a long time. He is currently said to be in the process of divorcing his wife. According to the Portuguese tabloids, a court hearing was the reason for his absence.
Palhinha was recently left out at FC Bayern. He should be back in the squad for Portugal against Scotland. Martinez already announced this.
