The incident occurred in the final minutes of the fourth quarter when McCain collided with a Nets defender while making his way to the basket. He fell unhappily to the floor of the Wells Fargo Center and hit his head and back hard. The young player lay on the ground for minutes, coughing and apparently having trouble breathing, before he finally got to his feet and was escorted off the field.

Missed the preseason finale

McCain was released from the hospital Thursday but will not play in Friday’s preseason finale against the Orlando Magic. The 20-year-old has shown strong performances so far in the preseason, averaging 12.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in five games.

The 16th pick of the NBA draft in June, who comes from the renowned Duke University, has already made a positive impression on the 76ers. In the game against the Nets he had 9 points and 7 rebounds in 23 minutes of playing time. The fans and the team hope for a quick recovery for the talented newcomer.
