Jay Idzes Can Play in Indonesia vs Japan

Manager Indonesian National Team Sumardji confirmed that Jay Idzes will not be absent and can play when Indonesia vs Japan in the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in Jakarta, 15 November.

The Indonesia vs Japan match, which is the fifth week of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta.

Initially it was thought that Jay Idzes would have to miss the Indonesia vs Japan match. This is based on the 2026 World Cup Qualification regulations which require players to miss one match if they accumulate yellow cards.

Idzes received a yellow card in the match against China on 15 October 2024. Previously, the Venezia FC player received a yellow card against Vietnam in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, 26 March 2024.

However, Sumardji said there was a whitewash of yellow cards between the second and third rounds of the 2026 World Cup Qualification. This means that Jay Idzes has only received a yellow card at this time.

“Jay Idzes didn’t accumulate cards because of that [vs Vietnam] still in round two. Meanwhile, for round three all whitening. “Only round three is counted,” Sumardji told CNNIndonesia.comFriday (18/10).

In other words, the Indonesian national team only lost Ivar Jenner who hosted Japan. Jenner received yellow cards against Bahrain and China in two consecutive matches.

“The only person who has accumulated cards is Ivar Jenner,” said the man who is also the Chairman of the PSSI National Team Body (BTN).

Sumardji was also able to accompany the Indonesian national team against Japan. Previously, Sumardji was absent against China because the referee received a red card in the match against Bahrain.
