Jorge Rodríguez: “The descendants of the genocidaires” are incapable of asking for forgiveness – Correo del Orinoco

The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, criticized how the descendants of the “genocidaires” who came to America 532 years ago, “are incapable of asking for forgiveness from the native peoples.

“The descendants of those who exterminated 90 million inhabitants of this land with blood and fire are incapable of apologizing and offering forgiveness to the native peoples,” he said at the march for the day of indigenous resistance taking place in Caracas. .

For Rodríguez, those who descend from these characters still “persist in their conquering and imperialist desire.”

“We are respectful of the people of the world, but we will not tolerate any form of interference against our customs, our laws, our traditions,” he stated.

He said that whoever dares to “attempt any interventionist attitude or position in our land will receive the strength of the people in the street.”

Thousands of people, including representatives of various ethnic groups from the country, marched in the streets of the capital to commemorate the day of Indigenous Resistance.

Venezuela is a free people

Rodríguez highlighted that Venezuela is a free people and called to continue accompanying and learning from the resistance of the indigenous peoples who kept their culture, sovereignty and language intact.

«They kept intact their way of seeing life, which is a way in harmony with nature. We must learn from them and we must accompany them so that they remain free forever,” he expressed.
