Josh Giddey will be a free agent in 2025

When a transfer takes place like that of Josh Giddey to the Chicago Bulls, what is expected is that the next move will be a renewal. Especially if it means losing a piece as important in the recent past and fit into any future plan as Alex Caruso. However, today journalist Brian Windhorts details that the talks have never prospered much since Giddey landed in Chicago. “There has not been a negotiation as such,” reveals the ESPN.

With the permission of Zach LaVine, the Australian point guard looks to be the Bulls’ sporting leader this season. So it is surprising to see that the franchise does not try to shield him from next summer. It is unknown if the player himself has been the most reluctant to discuss this extension. Not even the figures that have been used, although we would not expect them to be very far from the maximums signed by Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes or Cade Cunningham.

This probably points to Chicago’s latest intention: wanting to test Giddey’s true market value in order to renew him. The Australian will be a restricted free agent next summer, which means the Bulls can match any offer that comes in for the point guard. This already happened not so long ago with DeAndre Ayton in the Suns, which was a blow to the status of the player that still hurts in his cache.
