Judo, Moldova wins the Coral Riviera

For the fourth consecutive time, Moldova wins the Coral Riviera Trophy, an international men’s team judo competition now in its 28th edition. The superiority of the athletes competing on the tatami of the Judo Club Alghero was notable, as they won the majority of matches in all five weight categories. The performance of Olympic champion Denis Vieru was undisputed, as he won all the matches held in the category up to 66 kilograms.
The final ranking sees Moldova in first place, Portugal second, Italy third, Hungary fourth, Spain fifth, Poland sixth and Romania seventh.
The parade of Nations, led by the young athletes of the Judo Club Alghero, opened the day of competition. The teams gave their best from the first meeting with spectacular throws and absolute physical prowess. Rankings tied at mid-morning, with Moldova, Italy and Portugal at the top, which highlighted the determination and superiority of the athletes, who fought until the last match.
The Italians, under the guidance of Luca Poeta, defended the tricolor with honour: Alessandro Bicorgni and Lorenzo Iovine won three matches out of five, four victories out of five for Nicola Chiari in the 81kg category, Sansei Anani also took home three victories in the +90 category, while Enrico Signorini and Mattia Gallina brought home three victories for the -90 category.
Success of the Arti Marziali Sardegna sports club, which once again demonstrated its passion for this sport and renewed the appointment with the coral trophy created by the Alghero craftsman Agostino Marogna. «This year too the Riviera del Corallo Trophy broadcast its exceptional show – says Maestro Gavino Piredda, patron of the event – ​​We continue our work sowing the passion for judo and the importance of sport in the new generations.
