Judoka Arnaud Regner flies to Las Vegas, stars in his head

At 34, Arnaud Régner will realize one of his dreams. The judoka licensed at the Bully-les-Mines Martial Arts club will participate in the world championships which will begin on November 4 in Las Vegas in the United States. A first inevitably eagerly awaited for the athlete who will compete here in the veterans category (+ 100kg).

“It could be very tough”

« I started practicing judo very early, around the age of 4, he confides. I cut my teeth here in Bully before joining the Tourcoing hope center. It was very intense there, I participated in numerous certified tournaments before taking a break during Covid. » A stop more than a stop since the judoka made a comeback a few seasons ago within his training club. “ The children wanted to discover the practice in turn. I accompanied them and got back into it”. A winning return since Arnaud Regner, one thing led to another, got involved in the game. He notably distinguished himself in October 2023 in Tremblay by finishing first in the Master label A tournament, also grabbing the podium during the excellence tournament of Mouvaux in January 2024, then being crowned vice-champion of France last June. Results which opened the way to these world championships.

« It’s an event I’m looking forward to and one that will certainly be unique. I found out a little about the forces involved and there will be 21 participants in my category. There will also be an impressive delegation of Georgian judokas, including former internationals. It may be very challenging but it will inevitably be a very beautiful and strong experience. », he testifies. The World Championships in the Veterans category will take place in Las Vegas from November 4 to 7, 2024.
