Nishikori, 34 years old and former world No. 4, participated in the current Erste Bank Open (Vienna, Austria, indoor hard, ATP500), but in the first round held on the 22nd, he was ranked No. 18 in the world. He was defeated in the first round by J. Draper (UK) in straight sets, 6-7 (5-7), 5-7.
It has been decided that Nishikori will participate in the Slovak Open 2024, which starts next week. The official tournament website made the announcement on the 23rd.
According to the tournament’s official website, Nishikori is currently below the entry line for the main tournament, so if things continue at this rate, he will be participating in the qualifying round starting on the 27th. If a player is absent from the main match, they will be moved up to participate in the main match.
In addition to Nishikori, it has been announced that R. Safiulin, ranked 60th in the world, and S. Wawrinka (Switzerland), a former world No. 3, will be participating in the tournament.
