To field Hugo Souza in the Copa do Brasil, Corinthians will need to pay R$500,000 to Flamengo by next Monday (21). The São Paulo Club had until last Friday (18) to definitively acquire 50% of the goalkeeper’s economic rights for 800 thousand euros (R$ 4.8 million), but not exercise the option provided for in the contract.
The deadline for an agreement between the parties extends until November 30th. So far, the São Paulo board has already paid two fines: one relating to the Brazilian Championship and the other to the Copa do Brasil – totaling R$ 1 million.
