A new week of practice begins for the San Francisco 49ers. We are in Week 8 of the NFL and the 49ers will face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. This Wednesday’s practice had many absences due to injury. However, the team is very confident in the work that the rookies have done and is focused on trying to straighten the path in a game of great rivalry as is always the case when they meet the Cowboys.
They did not participate
The long list of players who could not participate in training this Wednesday due to their respective injuries were the following:
Left tackle Trent Williams also did not practice, but he simply because he received the day of rest as a veteran player.
In the case of Samuel Sr., 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said his receiver is not yet ruled out to play on Sunday. He added that Samuel Sr. was in the hospital for pneumonia.
“Pneumonia. He left the hospital, he arrived here yesterday, he is better than you would expect for someone with that disease, and we will see how he does throughout the week,” the coach explained.
Limited Training
Then there were three players who are battling injuries, but managed to train limitedly this Wednesday. Defensive lineman Nick Bosa (elbow), receiver Chris Conley (ankle) and running back Jordan Mason (shoulder).
Bosa, in fact, explained that in the Week 2 game against the Minnesota Vikings was when he injured his elbow, but he assures that he is fine.
“It was against the Vikings, yes. So I had some pain, they hit me there a couple of times in the last game, but I’m fine,” the defensive lineman said.
Leadership
Bosa also pointed out that something key to returning to the path of victory is the leadership that the 49ers have.
“It’s very important. We have a lot of leadership in this locker room, with the coaches and players and we have shown that over the years. We have been able to recover after tough starts. I don’t see why it can’t happen this year,” commented the lineman. stellar defensive.
Linebacker Fred Warner, precisely one of the leaders of the 49ers, spoke about the optimism that he always has, no matter how much adversity the team goes through.
“I’m about as optimistic as you’ll ever find. No matter what’s going on. If the building was burning, or I was burning, I’d still be standing there trying to keep everything afloat. We’re not really in that kind of situation.” Yes, injuries are unfortunate and with key players especially, but you have to keep going. “They probably wouldn’t have had it, but that’s the way it is. We have to find a way to win games,” Warner said.
Support for Newbies
Speaking of young players, Warner highlighted how well the 49ers’ rookies have played and how they have proven ready for their opportunities due to injuries to key players.
“I haven’t really had to say much, which honestly has been unique. I think this has been one of the most prepared groups of rookies we’ve had and it’s interesting because before we haven’t needed to have rookies ready to come in, but now like they’re needed and they’re ready, that’s good and they just have to continue to grow and get better every week,” Warner said.
In fact, one of the rookies, receiver Ricky Pearsall, spoke about the opportunity that all the young players are receiving with the unfortunate injuries to their other teammates.
“There’s definitely a lot of opportunity for us. Obviously, it’s unfortunate to see a player like Brandon Aiyuk get injured. One of our leaders on the team, great playmaker and one of my close friends. I’ve known him for a long time. So I “It hurt my heart to see him get hurt, but that’s pretty much what comes with football. And so now we have a lot of rookies who need to raise their hands, including myself. I’m very excited to do that,” Pearsall concluded.
