The Mexican, Matías Grande finished in fourth place
South Korea dominated the podium by making 1-2 with Kim Woojin as champion and Lee Woo Seok with the silver medal at the Tlaxcala 2024 Recurve Archery World Cup, while Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida took the third place medal.
The Gold medalist in Paris 2024, Kim Woojin, faced Frenchman Thomas Chirault in the Quarterfinals, whom he defeated 7-3. In the semifinal match he faced the Mexican Matías Grande and it seemed that the Aztec goalkeeper would give the surprise because until the second set he was winning 3-1, however, the Korean recovered, tied at 3 in the third set and in the fifth he threw the decisive arrow to advance to the grand final.
Lee Woo Seok, bronze medalist in the last Olympic Games, defeated Indian goalkeeper Dhiraj Boomadevara 6-4; In the semifinals, he faced the Brazilian, Marcus D’Almeida, whom he beat by the same score (6-4) and thus, settled into the decisive match.
In the third place medal match, Brazilian Marcus D’Almeida and Matías Grande tied in the first two sets, but it was in the third in which the Mexican threw a pair of “9s” and a 10, unlike the South American who threw two “10” and a “9” which made him go ahead 4-2 at the end of the third set and in the final, the Aztec threw two “9” and an “8”, which the Brazilian took advantage of to mark third of 9.
Despite fourth place in Tlaxcala 2024, the Aztec goalkeeper improved his place compared to what he did in Hermosillo 2023, where he was eliminated in the Quarterfinals against Lee Woo Seok.
