There are several ways to read the medal table. One of the least common is to look at the winners of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by sport. We discover a very unequal distribution of forces, with certain countries only shining – often voluntarily – in a few disciplines.
In table tennis, we talked a lot about the Lebrun brothers but China once again won all five titles at stake (women’s and men’s singles, women’s and men’s team, mixed). A habit for this country which has totaled 37 gold medals out of 42 since the introduction of the small celluloid ball to the Olympic program in 1988. The non-presence of the second Chinese player in the men’s singles final is almost a failure. Chinese domination is such that the Middle Kingdom provides a good number of players who it leaves to other countries.
