Kylian Mbappé Denies Rape Allegations: His Response to Swedish Reports

The Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen write that after Kylian Mbappé’s visit to Stockholm last week, the police began an investigation into the alleged rape.

The victim claims she was raped in the city center at the Bank Hotel while the star French footballer was in the area. “The Frenchman is reasonably suspected of rape and sexual harassment. It’s a lower level of suspicion,” informs the newspaper Expressen.

The alleged rape took place last Thursday in central Stockholm. On this day, photographers caught the Real Madrid striker with several people in the Chez Jolie restaurant in the Swedish capital, later he moved to the “V” club, where he met with other people.

The police received a complaint on Saturday when the woman asked for medical treatment, reports Aftonbladet. Kylian Mbappé reacted on the social network X. He called the news false and accused his former club Paris St. Germain, with whom he has a legal dispute and is to be heard today by the Legal Commission of the French Football League.

“Fake news! It becomes so predictable, as if by chance the day before the hearing,” wrote Mbappé, who claims at least 55 million euros from the French champion, which represents unpaid wages and other bonuses.

The football player’s representatives also responded. “A new gossip rumor started by the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet set the internet ablaze today,” said in a statement sent to AFP.

“These allegations are completely false and irresponsible and their dissemination is unacceptable. In order to end this methodical destruction of the image (of Kylian Mbappé), all necessary legal measures will be taken to restore the truth and to prosecute any person or media involved in the moral harassment and defamation that Kylian Mbappé has repeatedly suffered.

In Stockholm, Expressen journalists spoke with the president of the Center for Victims of Crime, former chief prosecutor Sven-Erik Alhem. He claims that the next step in the investigation is “possible questioning of Kylian Mbappe. It doesn’t necessarily have to happen in Sweden, but it can happen where it is, through an agent.’

Alhem claims that Mbappé is under suspicion “a reasonably lower degree of suspicion, the assessment of how strong the suspicion is by the prosecutor is important. This makes his tasks very important. Judging by the player’s comment on the social network, it is clear that he does not admit the act. Only after the possible hearing can the prosecutor assess whether this case should be dismissed or proceed with the legal procedure”.

French footballer Kylian Mbappe faces criticism in his country. He will miss “Les Bleus” upcoming Nations League games against Israel and Belgium (October 10 and 14, respectively), but he started for his club Real Madrid in Saturday’s league game against Villarreal.
