Leclerc Clinches Victory in Ferrari’s One-Two Finish at US GP, Verstappen Secures 3rd to Extend Championship Lead

Charles Leclerc won the US Grand Prix in Formula 1, the 19th race of the season. The Ferrari driver started from 4th position, but took advantage of the fight between Norris and Verstappen in the first corner to take the lead and lead the race. Carlos Sainz, his teammate, finished in second place, thus giving Ferrari a one-two finish.

Leclerc finished 8.562 seconds ahead of Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and 19.412 seconds ahead of Verstappen.

In the last laps, Norris fought an epic battle with Verstappen, overtaking the Dutchman on the third to last lap, but was penalized with five seconds, for overtaking with all four wheels off the track.

The Brit claimed that Max also passed with his wheels out of bounds, braking late to prevent the McLaren man from overtaking, but the track stewards had a different view.

Thus, Verstappen finishes third and gains three more points from Lando Norris, after having won the sprint race. The Dutchman, three-time world champion, leaves Austin with a reinforced lead in the Drivers’ World Championship, with 57 points more than the British driver from McLlaren.

McLaren scores 22 points and now has 544, maintaining the lead in the Constructors’ World Championship. Red Bull is second, with 504, Ferrari has 43 points and now has 496, eight behind Red Bull and 48 behind McLaren. The Constructors’ World Cup is also in full swing.
