At Soudal Quick-Step we see some big names leaving for next year. Mainly with Julian Alaphilippe and Kasper Asgreen, but Gianni Moscon will also no longer be part of the team.

Surprising transfer
And that may be considered a surprise. Patrick Lefevere was consistently positive about the Italian, whom he surprisingly managed to bring on board last year. After all, Moscon was tied to a minimum wage. So there was still something possible.
“I made an dishonorable offer to Lombardi (Giovanni, his manager). I could offer Moscon a contract with the minimum wage. No one should believe me, but I really do that with red cheeks,” Lefevere said at the time.
Moscon’s much-discussed character also did not scare him. “Moscon may have a short fuse. I hope he learned his lesson. A rider may also have balls on his body. I don’t think you should agree to everything. If someone hits you in the head and you don’t hit back, well.”
A surprising farewell
Ultimately, the collaboration apparently went very well. Moscon was even part of the Tour team around Remco Evenepoel. And yet, the Italian will apparently not stay on board for next season.
Daniel Benson – formerly at GCN and now a respected freelance journalist – reports this via X. Moscon would not even have received an offer from Lefevere & co. I wonder what he will have to say about this later.
🚨Moscon is not staying at Soudal Quick-Step for 2025. No contract offer from the team. 🇮🇹🇧🇪
