Leonie Fiebich confirms her status as a top rookie in the WNBA Finals

Leonie Fiebich confirms her status as a top rookie in the current WNBA Finals. In Game 1 of the finals between her team New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx, Fiebich once again showed a strong performance in an exciting game, which the team from the Big Apple narrowly lost to the Lynx.

Fiebich also shows a strong performance in the finals

The WNBA Finals have begun. The Liberty from New York led for a long time in Game 1 of the finals against the Lynx from Minnesota but still came up short in a close finish in overtime. The homecourt advantage is therefore lost for the team from the Big Apple for the time being.

Fiebich was on the court for almost the entire game and once again showed a strong performance with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Despite the big stage in the WNBA finals, she once again confirmed her status as one of the best young talents of the current WNBA season.

What was even more impressive than the points record for a rookie in a Finals Game 1 was her nerve. The shooting splits were routine and paired with an excellent 55% from the perimeter. It was hardly noticeable that as a rookie she was playing in what was probably one of the most important games of her young career. She was able to confirm once again her thoroughly positive overall image as an all-rounder.

Across all of her teams, whether in the DBB dress or with the Liberty, she shows herself to be an integral and central building block that stands out through her multi-dimensional and, above all, contemporary, serious game.

Even if the home game advantage was canceled out by the Lynx for the time being, it can be assumed that a long and hard-fought series lies ahead. The Liberty have a chance at the title for the second time in a row and it’s hard to imagine this home game defeat leaving no echo in the series. Whether in a positive or negative direction for the team around Leonie Fiebich could already be seen on Sunday in Game 2, which again takes place at the Barclays Center at home.
