Leverkusen confirms ankle injury for Florian Wirtz

This Tuesday, the German club Bayer Leverkusen confirmed the ankle injury of its striker Florian Wirtz, injured in the selection against the Netherlands on Monday evening.

Bayer Leverkusen confirmed on Tuesday that midfielder Florian Wirtz suffered an ankle injury during Germany‘s 1-0 win over the Netherlands and did not say when he would return. Wirtz injured his right ankle late in the first half of the Nations League match Monday night and did not return to the field after halftime.

In a statement on Tuesday, Leverkusen said an MRI confirmed Wirtz suffered from“capsular damage to the right ankle”adding that the date of its resumption is “uncertain”. The 21-year-old “currently undergoing treatment in Leverkusen”said the club.

Wirtz was named player of the 2023-24 Bundesliga season which saw Leverkusen win the German league title for the first time in their history. Since the start of the season, he has scored six goals and provided one assist for Leverkusen, currently fifth in the standings, three points behind leader Bayern Munich.
