Lička trains in Russia, FAČR supported him in his studies. He fulfilled the conditions, according to the union

Two weeks ago, Mario Lička became one of the twenty accepted applicants to study the highest European coaching course, UEFA PRO. The Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR) did not mind his almost two-year engagement in Russia, where he currently works as an assistant to his older brother Marcel, who is the head coach of Dynamo Moscow.

Mario Lička worked as a novice football coach in the role of assistant in the third division Benešov and later Hostouni. Before he received an offer to move to his brother in Russia at the turn of 2022 and 2023.

That is, at a time when the ongoing war aggression provoked by Russia raged in Ukraine a long time ago. Because of it, the Russians are cut off from international competitions on the national and club level, even on the football field.

<p data="Even so, two weeks ago in Prague, Lička passed the entrance exams to study the UEFA PRO course, i.e. the highest coaching license that entitles the holder to lead teams in the highest European leagues.

<p data="“>”The admission procedure took place in the form of creating a project on a given topic, based on the real environment of the applicants’ professional practice. In the second round, to which 32 applicants advanced, the goal was to defend the project, supplemented by a didactic interview with the examination board,” the FAČR stated on its website.

<p data="“>The admission committee included Verner Lička, Mario’s father working for the FAČR as a guarantor of professional football, as well as the head of the UEFA PRO license Martin Vlk and coaches Martin Svědík, David Holoubek, Aleš Křeček, Jiří Žilák and Jiří Skála.

<p data="“>Wasn’t Lička’s involvement in Russia problematic for them? Was there a debate as to whether it is morally right to support a coach who, under the current situation, earns his living by working in Russia?

<p data="“>”FAČR has condemned Russian aggression from the beginning, complies with all government regulations and, moreover, supports Ukraine and the Ukrainian Football Association in various ways,” Petr Šedivý, director of the Communication Department of FAČR, answered a question from Aktuálně.cz.

<p data="“>”Admission to study coaching licenses has clearly defined conditions and rules, which Mario Lička fulfilled,” he added in a statement to Lička himself.

<p data="“>Lička, former midfielder and league champion with Baník, former player of Slavia, Southampton and French Brest, less than two years ago did not have a hard time about leaving for Russia.

<p data="“>”I don’t take it to mean that I’m doing something wrong or evil. I was drawn to my brother. I look at the situation from a purely sporting and personal point of view. My brother and I will not change what is happening,” he described his position on the subject of war in an interview with Sport.cz.

<p data="“>At that time, he followed his brother Marcel to Orenburg, with whom Lička Sr. advanced from the second Russian league and led him to seventh place among the elite. Last summer, they both moved to Moscow to join the Dynamo team.

<p data="“>Marcel Lička made a name for himself in Eastern countries by winning the Belarusian title with Dynamo Brest in 2019. When the Russians started a war in Ukraine, he was already working in Orenburg and thinking about returning home.

<p data="“>However, he decided to stay in Russia. “What would I gain from that? I would come home, but the war would not end,” he said in an interview with Deník.

<p data="“>Last season, coaches Liček led Dynamo Moscow to third place in the Russian league, in the current year their team is in fifth place.
