The British streaming platform DAZN, holder of Ligue 1 TV broadcasting rights, is extending its offer until the end of 2024 at 19.99 euros per month instead of 29.99 euros, it said on Wednesday. AFP, confirming information from RMC Sport.
DAZN launched a first promotion from September 10 to 22, before extending it for the first time for a week then extending it several times in recent weeks.
The extension until the end of the year of this reduction of 10 euros on the monthly subscription with a one-year commitment marks an offensive strategy to win over subscribers, the number of which remains confidential.
The subscription price offered by DAZN at the start of the season – 39.99 per month or 29.99 euros in the event of a one-year commitment – has sparked numerous criticisms, with a rush towards illegal distribution methods and supporters who expressed their discontent in the stadiums through songs and banners, also targeting BeIN Sports.
At the end of a long series, DAZN acquired at the beginning of July the TV broadcast rights to eight live L1 matches per day for an average of 400 million euros per year, with BeIN Sports broadcasting one match per 100 million euros annually.
