EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The Lions of El Escondido announced this Thursday businessman Eduardo Alberto Najri Molini as their new president for the 2024-25 period.

Najri Molini was elected to occupy the presidency of the Chosen Baseball Club in the Ordinary General Assembly held today by the team that participates in the Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic (Lidom).

«It gives me great joy to assume this privilege of being president of the Chosen One, a team that I have loved all my life. “I assume this responsibility with enthusiasm and with the commitment to continue working so that the franchise maintains the legacy of excellence, order and tradition that has characterized it throughout its history,” said Najri Molini upon taking office as president of the red team.

With his election, Najri Molini will head the Lions Board of Directors, which is made up of Felipe Augusto Vicini, vice president; Fernando Armenteros Márquez, treasurer; Luis Armando García, secretary, and as directors José Miguel Bonetti Du-Breil, Luis Manuel Bonetti Veras and Alfredo Najri Nadal.

Also chosen were Marcial Najri, substitute for the president; Kai Peter Shoenhals, Deputy Vice President; Roberto Bonetti Pastoriza, deputy treasurer; Otto Antonio Obritzhauser, substitute for the secretary, and as substitutes for the directors Luis Manuel Bonetti Mesa, José Luis Venta and José Antonio Najri.

The century-old baseball organization, which this year operates under the direction of former Major League slugger Albert Pujols seeks to achieve its first championship in the last eight seasons, highlighted its commitment to contributing, from its work as president, to returning success to the franchise capital.

“The goal is to win more championships and we will work tirelessly so that the chosen family raises their pride in the Lions even more,” said Najri Molini, who replaces Luis Manuel Bonetti Veras as president of the Lions.

Najri Molini has stood out for his work in the administrative area of ​​sports, in addition to baseball. For nine years he was general manager of the Dominican basketball team, which under his tutelage returned to a World Cup, after 36 years of its first participation in 1978 in the Philippines, in the one held in Spain in 2014 and appeared again in the edition of China in 2019.
