Bogotá, October 10, 2024. The technical director of the Colombian youth judo team is optimistic and proud of the future of the discipline.

30 days before the start of the 2024 National and Para National Youth Games, Luis Arturo Soler, national judo coach for people with visual disabilities, highlights the importance of this event as an essential springboard for young athletes. According to Soler, the Games not only strengthen the training process, but will also be a key step on the path to the next Paralympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, projecting new generations towards high international performance.

“This multi-sport event is an effort made by the system to keep visible and strengthen the current process,” he comments with conviction. He is aware that, thanks to events like this, the sport continues to grow and project itself towards a promising future.

The importance of the games lies not only in participation, but in the possibility of these young judokas facing athletes with international experience. “That motivates any athlete, it projects him into the future,” he says enthusiastically. These matches mark a turning point for many Para athletes, who are inspired to continue within the system and aspire for more.

Soler has been dedicated to Paralympic judo in Colombia for more than two decades. He has been a witness and fundamental part of the evolution of sport in the country. His experience as a coach has allowed him to guide countless judokas to success, and now, with the National Youth Games just around the corner, he is more motivated than ever to see the new generations take up the mantle.

“It’s an honor to continue being part of this process,” he says. For him, each of the athletes who compete in these games not only represents a promise for national sport, but also proof of the impact of their work and that of the entire team that accompanies them.

As the event approaches, Soler emphasizes that the National and Para national Games are not only focused on competition, but also on the holistic development of young people. This event will be instrumental in forging key characteristics such as discipline, concentration and responsibility, which are essential not only in judo, but also in everyday life. In this way, resilient and committed athletes are being formed, ready to face the challenges of high performance and international competition.
