At first, 37-year-old Andrea Petkovic couldn’t cope with the strong and powerful baseline strokes of Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova. In the second quarterfinal she lost to Rybarikova in the first set 4:6, with a break festival. Petkovic fought and equalized to 4:4, but ultimately lost out 4:6. In the second round she received an early break to make it 1:2 and ran after this deficit. After a 3:5 deficit, the woman from Darmstadt already looked like a sure loser, but turned the second round around with enormous fighting strength and won 7:5.
