Malian judokas on their way to Ivory Coast – MALI24

Maïmouna Traoré (-63 kg), Saran Koné (-78 kg), Mahamadou Doucara (-81 kg) and Koman Doumbia (-90 kg) are the four judokas selected by the Malian Judo and Ju-jitsu Federation to represent Mali during the Japanese Ambassador’s Cup, which will be held this Saturday, October 26, 2024 in Ivory Coast.

Organized by the Ivorian Judo Federation, this competition is part of their program of activities for the year 2024. In addition to Mali, several other West African countries will take part in the event, notably Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, Niger, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

The objective of this competition is to strengthen the bonds of fraternity between these countries while promoting the practice of judo in the region. According to the Secretary General of Côte d’Ivoire Judo, Mr. Doublin, the event also aims to establish a mechanism to address the many challenges facing West African judo.

The Malian delegation, led by Colonel Abdoulaye Keita, 1st Vice-President of the Malian Judo and Jujitsu Federation, welcomed this initiative which brings together judokas from different nations. He said he was confident about the Malian team’s chances of winning medals, hoping to carry the colors of Mali high.

The Malian team is coached by Mr. Adama Keita.
