Man suffers burns after fire in Chelsea – NBC New England

A raging fire at a home in Chelsea, Massachusetts, left one resident injured with burns before being rescued by firefighters.

Chelsea firefighters extinguished the serious fire that even went through the roof of a three-story house on Sagamore Avenue.

The man was trapped inside the third floor and was taken to shelter but with multiple burns on his face, neck, back and arms.

“He had burns and we were able to get him out and get to the third floor, which was full of furniture and fabrics, we tried to control the fire so it didn’t spread to the subsequent floors,” said Chelsea Fire Captain Robert Denning.

They managed to put out the fire relatively quickly, which they said was due to the proximity of the fire station, which is just a block away. The neighbors regret what happened.

“I heard the noise from the firefighters and then I started to look and saw that smoke was coming out of the house in front and I went down where I saw that rubber was coming out from both sides in front of the back and up with the ladder,” said Carlos Hernández, who witnessed the fire.

For now, authorities are awaiting the results of the investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
