Goretzka wants to stay

As things stand, seven contracts at FC Bayern expire next summer. The affected players include Leroy Sané (28) and Alphonso Davies (23), two of Munich’s most valuable players. The latter has been linked to Real Madrid for months, but now Manchester United is apparently also joining the race. Davies is loud “Sky“ is not the only Bayern professional for whom the Red Devils can imagine a transfer in the near future – there is also interest in Sané and Leon Goretzka (29).
From January onwards, at least Davies and Sané should officially start negotiations about a free transfer from the German to the English record champions. According to information from the broadcaster, the winger, who was recently one of the losers in the Bundesliga market value update, is still in contact with the Munich management regarding an extension. Meanwhile, Davies has had few concrete signs about his future since talks collapsed in June. It remains to be seen whether he is already so far into the talks with Real that Man United no longer has a chance.
According to “Sky”, the most concrete leads from United lead to Goretzka, who from the English perspective could become an issue in the winter if Casemiro (32) leaves the club early. The 57-time national player, who has little chance of playing time under Vincent Kompany, wants to stay and his contract with FC Bayern is valid until 2026. Goretzka reportedly earns 17 million euros gross and would probably have to make compromises if he moved, even in the financially strong Premier League.
If a Bayern player were to be transferred to Man United, it would not be unusual. In the past, the Red Devils have always been happy to use the Munich team – like last summer, when Bayern received a total of 60 million euros for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

With Manuel Ugarte (23), United brought a professional from Paris in the summer for 50 million euros who was intended to be Casemiro’s successor in the medium term, but the Uruguayan has not yet become a regular player. Top talent Kobbie Mainoo (19) is set, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen (32) taking turns next to him. Like Sané and Davies, the Dane’s contract expires next summer.
At least at first glance, there is the least need for the offensive wings, where Sané is based: Marcus Rashford (26) and Alejandro Garnacho (20) are more or less set, Amad Diallo (22) has been getting regular playing time so far and Antony (24 ) is still there too. However, the German international enjoys an excellent reputation on the island from his time at Manchester City. With the Skyblues under Pep Guardiola he once achieved the then German record market value of 100 million euros, and in 135 games he scored 39 goals and 43 assists for United’s city rivals.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw (29) plays regularly on the left side of defense, but he has been out with a knee injury since August. His replacement Tyrell Malacia (25) has been forced to watch for over a year, also due to a knee injury. That’s why right-footed Diogo Dalot (25), the most valuable full-back at Man United with a market value of 40 million euros, is playing there this season.
Any transfer plans at the Red Devils will probably depend on what happens in the coaching chair. Erik ten Hag is currently being criticized again, and possible successors such as Thomas Tuchel or Graham Potter have been discussed for weeks. Tuchel, of course, knows all three Bayern professionals very well; Goretzka was still part of his regular staff under him in 2023/24.
