Managing director Oliver Mintzlaff: Jürgen Klopp does not receive a national coach clause at Red Bull

Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff has denied reports of an exit option for a commitment as national coach in Jürgen Klopp‘s contract. “Jürgen Klopp has no exit clause and we are looking forward to a long-term collaboration,” said the 49-year-old to the dpa news agency.

Most recently he had DFB reacted calmly to the rumors: “Regardless of whether there is a clause or not, we are not dealing with it,” said DFB Sport managing director Andreas Rettig Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and added, referring to Julian Nagelsmann: “Because we have the best coach we could wish for.” Everyone who has responsibility at the German Football Association would not concern themselves with exit scenarios for a second. National coach Nagelsmann’s current contract expires after the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Klopp is responsible for game philosophy and scouting, among other things

On Wednesday, the energy drink manufacturer Red Bull announced that Jürgen Klopp would be appointed as of next year Global Head of Soccer to employ. The former coach of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool FC is said to be responsible for the international network of all Red Bull football clubs. These include RB Leipzig, Salzburg, the New York Red Bulls, Bragantino (Brazil) and Ōmiya Ardija (Japan). Red Bull has also acquired shares in the English club Leeds United. In particular, Klopp should advance the clubs’ playing philosophy and scouting with his many years of expertise.

According to Mintzlaff, reports that Red Bull’s company founder Dietrich Mateschitz is said to have convinced Klopp to make a change as early as 2022 are also false, according to Mintzlaff. This has “no basis whatsoever and is a fairy tale,” he said, referring to a contract extension for the then football coach. At the end of April 2022, Klopp signed a new contract with Liverpool FC.
