Manchester United apparently wanted a Bundesliga coach in the summer

Manchester United apparently wanted to sign Sebastian Hoeneß from VfB Stuttgart as their new coach in the summer.

Sea Bild The English record champions tried to recruit Hoeneß even before the contract with current coach Erik ten Hag was ultimately extended until 2026. The Dutchman has been coaching United since 2022, but is constantly criticized. After a botched start to the season, his dismissal is once again only a matter of time.

Hoeneß turned down United in the summer just as he had previously turned down FC Bayern Munich, where Vincent Kompany ultimately took over. It was only in the spring that Hoeneß extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart, which he led from the relegation zone to runner-up, until 2027. He is currently in eighth place in the Bundesliga with VfB and will face FC Bayern on Saturday.

At United, Thomas Tuchel and Edin Terzic, among others, are being considered as possible successors to the shaky ten Hag.
