«This documentary brings together for the first time the testimonies of Spanish soccer players regarding the turbulent 2023 Women’s World Cup and the kiss that overshadowed his victory. This is how the ‘Netflix’ platform officially announces the premiere, on November 1, of ‘#SeAcabó: Diario de las Campeanas’.
This Wednesday the trailer of a documentary was released that deals with what the Spanish women’s team experienced before, during and after the tournament held a year ago in New Zealand y Australia in which they were proclaimed world champions.
Jenni Hermoso, Alexia, Irene Paredes, Aitana Bonmatí o Laia Codina They are some of the soccer players who tell in first person their feelings and memories of that. In the brief preview issued, the sincerity and harshness of several statements is surprising.
For example, this phrase from Laia Codina: «For me it was a broken group. “It seemed like we had to win to screw the others.”
Main protagonist is Jenni Hermosoto whom the then president of the Federation, Luis Rubialesplanted a non-consensual kiss on his mouth during the title celebration. “Many people don’t know the real story of everything that happened either,” says the forward. And on the verge of crying, she adds: «We were also champions to be able to be heard, although… We have lived it all. At first, we weren’t shit, until we were world champions and suffered something we would never have imagined. And to continue there… that’s why I said: ‘It’s over.’
Another one that appears in the trailer is Irene Paredes. His words also have meaning: «We have lived and fought for every ball on and off the field. “The Federation took everything as an attack and went after us.”
And to top it off, the harsh statement of the best player in the world, Aitana Bonmatí: “They didn’t bet on us, nor did they care about us.”
