PARIS (Reuters) – Third seed Alexander Zverev (Germany) advanced to the third round of the men’s tennis Masters in Paris on the 30th in the second round of singles matches.
Zverev faced Talon Freekspoor (Netherlands) and won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. He had a good performance with only 9 unforced errors and an 86% point winning rate on first serves. “I had to find a rhythm in the beginning, but I’m glad I won in the end.”
Daniil Medvedev, the fourth seed from Russia, lost to Alexei Popyrin of Australia 4-6, 6-2, 6-7. Fifth seed Taylor Fritz (USA) also lost to Jack Draper (UK) in a set count of 1-2.
Also advancing to the tournament were 8th seed Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria), 9th seed Alex de Minaur (Australia), and 13th seed Holger René (Denmark).
