MFF’s Pursuit of Star Forward: All the Details on Their Interest in Signing Olsen

The Swedish national team veteran has had some injury concerns and did not play a minute for Aston Villa this autumn. A situation surrounding Robin Olsen that seems to have aroused all-Swedish interest.

Expressen states that Malmö FF is making a “serious attempt” to sign the 34-year-old, who represented the sky blue between 2012-2015. According to the newspaper, the parties have already held “concrete talks” about a potential move in January.

Olsen has a contract until this summer. But Aston Villa are said to be open to letting their back-up goalkeeper leave the club as early as this winter.

During the national team meetings over the years, the 34-year-old has been clear several times that he wants to return to MFF at some point. In November 2022, for example, Olsen said the following to Fotbollskanalen:

– I’m eager to come home. It will come.

He then had 2.5 years left on his contract.

– Very possible, replied Olsen.

The 75-time national team goalkeeper has a solid track record. In addition to Aston Villa, Olsen also has a past in FC Copenhagen, Paok, Roma, Cagliari, Everton and Sheffield United.

MFF has Johan Dahlin and Ricardo Friedrich under contract for the 2025 season, in their goalkeeper set-up.
