Morelia, Michoacán, October 20, 2024 – Within the framework of the Professor Daniel F. Hernández National Judo Tournament, Michoacán hosted the National Judo Congress, an event that brought together prominent exponents of this discipline to discuss key topics, international results and the calendar of events for 2025. In A majority vote confirmed that Michoacán will once again host the Professor Daniel F. Hernández National Judo Tournament in 2025, cementing its reputation as a center of excellence for sporting events.

Sergio García Malfavón, president of the Michoacán Judo Association, expressed his satisfaction with the development of this year’s tournament and thanked the Mexican Judo Federation, as well as Grisel Tello Pimentel, honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the DIF Michoacán System, and Óscar Celis Silva, general director of the DIF, for his unconditional support. “They have been fundamental in positioning Michoacán on the sports map, especially in the field of judo,” said García Malfavón.

The impact of the Olympic medal obtained by Prisca Awiti has put Mexico, and particularly Michoacán, in the focus of world judo. The success of the current tournament has generated positive comments and growing interest among judo associations, who are already anticipating their return to participate in the Judo Novice Cup at the end of the year and the National Tournament in 2025.

These events highlight not only Michoacán’s infrastructure to host high-level competitions, but also the hospitality and services it offers to the families of judokas, strengthening its status as the epicenter of judo in Mexico.
