Michoacán Will Host the 2024 National Judo Tournament for the First Time | mizitacuaro.com

Morelia, Michoacán, October 15, 2024. – Michoacán is preparing to host for the first time the Professor Daniel F. Hernández National Judo Tournament, which will take place from October 17 to 20 at the Morelia Convention and Exhibition Center (Ceconexpo). This event, which will have the participation of more than 700 competitors, will count towards the national ranking in Under-13, Under-15, Under-18, Under-21 and Senior categories.

During a press conference, representatives of the DIF Michoacán System, the State Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Cecufid), the Executive Secretariat, the Michoacán AC Judo Association, and the Mexican AC Judo Federation shared the details of the tournament.

Óscar Celis Silva, general director of the DIF Michoacán System, indicated that the arrival of judokas from 28 associations throughout the country is expected. Grisel Tello Pimentel, honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the DIF Michoacán System, highlighted that for children and adolescents in residential care, this competition represents an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and discipline in judo, as well as to incorporate values ​​such as respect, honesty and self-control, which are essential for their comprehensive development.

“We are very excited, this is the result of teamwork. We will receive more than 700 athletes who will show the best of themselves. In addition, our girls, boys and adolescents in guardianship will also participate, which will be very motivating for them,” said Tello Pimentel.

Raúl Morón Vidal, director of Cecufid, stressed that, according to UNESCO, “sport is a powerful link for social inclusion, gender equality and the training of young people, with benefits that transcend beyond the stadiums.” This tournament not only promises to be a high-level sporting event, but also a platform for the personal and social growth of the participants.
