Focused on the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, Atlético returns to the field next Saturday (19) and faces Vasco da Gama in São Januário, in Rio de Janeiro. The return match is scheduled for 6:30 pm (Brasília time) and is worth a place in the big decision.
As they won the first game 2-1, at Arena MRV, Galo will play for a draw (or new victory) to advance to the final. The Rio team, in turn, needs to defeat the opponent by two or more goals to guarantee their place in normal time; for one, the match will go to maximum penalties.
This Wednesday (16), after the 1-1 draw with Fortaleza, in a match from the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship, coach Gabriel Milito revealed what his team’s stance will be in the weekend’s commitment, playing as visitors:
“We have an advantage, a minimal advantage, but we will not go to Rio to play against Vasco to defend our advantage. We will play an intelligent game, but with the idea of winning”, said the 44-year-old Argentine coach.
“We can’t speculate with the result we achieved, we don’t like it, the players don’t like it. We will be intelligent, we are aware of the advantage, but we know it is insufficient and we understand that we will have to play a very, very good game to eliminate Vasco and reach the final”, he concluded.
