The third day of the Champions League opened this Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. with two matches on the program. One of them particularly interested us with the match between AS Monaco and Red Star Belgrade on the Rock. In full swing and still not having lost this season, the Asemists arrived confident of their strength in the Champions League after an inaugural success against FC Barcelona (2-1) and a draw against Dinamo Zagreb (2-2). Faced with the modest club from the Serbian capital, hopes of victory were therefore more than normal. And from the start, Adi Hütter’s players set their pace on the match. And it quickly paid off. Launched deep and completely alone, Takumi Minamino made ASM’s great start to the match (1-0, 20th). However, against the run of play, Thilo Kehrer was guilty of a foul in the area on the only Serbian opportunity. From the penalty spot, Chérif Ndiaye did not tremble and deceived Majecki to equalize (1-1, 27th). Getting its head right, Monaco resumed its march forward and regained control just before half-time thanks to Breel Embolo who ended its goal drought that it had been trailing since the start of the season (2-1, 45+4th). When we returned from the locker room, there was no match as ASM dominated the debates.
